Hi i have a 14 year old lurcher who's getting very bad spasms in her right hind leg, it starts off were she kicks out bit like shes got something stuck in her foot then she looses her balance and finds it hard to stand or walk,
its only happened once before, but today whilst on a walk it happened again quite badly, it took over 20 mins before she could even start to walk, if you touch the bottom of her foot she kicks out, i did massage and strech the leg out, but it didnt make any differance, she was warm, so i let her cool off in a stream and that did seem to help her, once i got her walking at a trot she seemed to pick up, but if she stood still or walked slowly it started again - shes normaly quite active and does still go on longish walks, its left her quite stiff around her back end, and if i touch her foot she still kicks out, its only on that foot though.

She has had problems with her hips and lower back before,
she had accupuncher (sp) for months to help and also has seen a
chyropractor (sp) who said she had fluid around her lower back area,
that was sorted and i was shown how to massage it so it didnt build up again, the accupuncher was stopped as she wasnt getting any bennafit from it, it was only heping for a couple of weeks, the vet put her on to PLT insted, after seeing the chyroparctor we did get her off the PLT and shes been off them for a couple of years now,

Is there anything i could do to help her if it happens again,
as its quite worrying when it happnes.

Thanks and sorry for the long post.

Jane
